Melody is very passionate about the intersection between law and technological innovations and has published extensively in this area. She is a Legal Consultant at Phukubje Pierce Masithela Attorneys where she specialises in cybersecurity, data privacy and ICT law in general. She is also a sessional lecturer on Cybersecurity and Data Protection at the University of Witwatersrand LINK Centre. She is an international speaker and has presented at international platforms such as the African Internet Governance Forum and the Latin America Computers, Privacy and Data Protection (CPDP). Currently, she is undertaking her PhD studies at the University of Witwatersrand and her project focuses on jurisdictional challenges of cloud computing services on cybercrime investigations. She was a 2020 Fellow at the Center for African Affairs and Conflict Research (CAACOR) where she conducted research on policy issues around Digital Identity and Cloud Services. She is an alumni of the African School on Internet Governance. She recently finished a program on Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration at Zurich University of Applied Sciences. She is one of the finalists in the 2021 Mail & Guardian Top 200. She strongly believes that cybersecurity is an important aspect in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
